Geomodel Auditing

The geocellular model is important to the project, so ensuring that everything is correct and reflects the data and concepts is key. Being able to quickly audit the model, its workflows and inputs provides a kind of proofreading of the grid, and identifying any errors and their possible impact and how long it would take to rectify them is important to project management and planning.

Having an independent technical check of everything to make sure that there are no typos, that the values in the model match those in the report and that the most recent depth conversion is being used brings confidence that the model has been constructed with no errors and the most up-to-date information. The model maybe from an experienced geologist who has worked on the project and has missed typed a value for years, a new graduate who has used the wrong well-tops, from a partner in the project who is using a set of seismic horizons you have not seen, or inherited from another company who use modelling methods that are different to your own, a review of the model will highlight anything that will need to be changed.
