Hello and welcome to the first entry into the Papers section of the site! This section is a cross between a blog, a knowledge sharing platform and a place to discuss interactions between different disciplines related to geomodelling.

There will be several overall series, that are listed and described below:

  • Bridging the Knowledge Gaps – This series will cover the interactions between the various disciplines that I as geomodeller interact with in the course of a project and how best to incorporate their data, provide them with feedback, deliver them a product, and how to handle their feedback and queries.
  • Network Builder – In this set of articles, I’ll be talking with fellow consultants with expertise in different fields to geomodelling. The aim of this is to highlight how their skills and products can be used by the geomodeller. It is somewhat of a sibling series to “Bridging the Knowledge Gaps” and the outcome of these chats might add or change the corresponding document.
  • Thought Experiments – These will be conceptual experiments that might change how you approach some aspects of modelling. Some will also highlight some of the interactions that are possible between different disciplines where the geomodeller will have to facilitate a discussion.
  • Specialist Presentations – While working in the Specialists Group I had to create a number of presentations and databases on specialist subjects that where then distributed across the organisation. These proved to be extremely useful, as they explained subjects from first principles which allowed all members of the subsurface team to be on a level footing. This series will be a reworking of these presentations into smaller, more concise documents.

If you would like to suggest a subject for the Specialist Presentations or be involved in a Network Builder talk, please send me an email via the contact button.
